I have to admit that I'm not much into the buying frenzy around Valentine's Day. In fact, it kind of makes me nauseous with all the commercials to buy buy buy diamonds, open hearts from Kay Jewelers and so on. I loved making Valentine cards as a kid and that is more my speed. When I met my husband and we started dating I made him a big chocolate chip cookie and left if outside as a surprise on his car. His roommate saw it and said, "Hey dude, I think you have something on your car." That's about as far as I go. You'd think I'd be more romantic minded since I'm a wedding photographer but I'm not really into the merchandising and it turns me off...BUT this year my husband got back from a business trip in Belgium the day before Valentines so guess what? I got about 3 pounds of chocolate! Neuhaus as well as a few other brands for cooking and eating to last me months! I requested it. He came back with a suitcase full of chocolate and beer. I also requested Westmalle. When we lived there that was my favorite beer. There is nothing like sitting down with a glass of Westmalle Dubbel and a sandwhich of abbey bread and cheese. I'm going to have that with dinner tonight and I'll probably cry from delight and nostalgia of the times I enjoyed being in Belgium...
